Combat Baby

"Combat baby, come back,
How I miss your ranting,
Do you miss my all time lows?"
Metric - Combat Baby

Tonight was the night of the 2011 MTV Movie Awards and my expectations for the red carpet have been met nicely. Here are a few of my favorites who I really think deserve some praise:

(Emma Watson of Harry Potter and My Week With Marilyn, looking absolutely angelic in a gorgeously beaded form-fitted white dress.)

(Lily Collins of The Blindside sports an edgy mini dress with an animal print, though still looking very classy.)

(Emma Stone of Zombieland and Superbad looks almost too spectacular whilst sporting her vintagey cocktail dress.)

I absolutely love that these three have high-necked dresses, it is so hard to find a decent dress nowadays without showing way too much skin.

(Andrew Garfield of The Other Boleyn Girl and The Amazing Spider-Man is adorable in his twist on the typical red carpet garb.)

Haha, yeah, he's just a cutey. ^^

Sleeping With Bears

“We’ll share a soft and subtle kiss,
This is bliss, there is no point to it.”
Pearly Gate Music - Sleeping With Bears

So I have been punching in some major hours on the computer this past week to get a jump on my Summer To Do List, and I decided to write this post to prove to myself that it wasn't a complete waste of my time. X]

I am a night owl and an early riser (I function well on little sleep), and I found this website of a guy who is like that, too. It's called Good Morning & Good Night and the stuff he posts is so cool! I have a total blog crush on him, haha. :P

By religiously following his posts, I came across another blog and I cannot stop reading it. I know that it's a little cheesy by some people's standards and more than a bit girly/mushy, but I'm an optimist and think that it is cute, so bite me. And somehow, when reading those romantic posts, it sparks my creative side and I have written some pretty good poems as of late. Shall I post one? Comment and tell me so.

Oh, and here are a couple of tops I was thinking of ordering:

(Dark wash jeans and some black gladiators?)

(I would wear this French Alphabet Tunic and the next one with tights or black shorts.)

(I just love the lace detailing on this. ^^)

Rocketeer/Geek in the Pink

Oops, I nearly forgot:
Check out Justin Robinett on youtube! He and his friend Michael Henry did a that great piano cover of What the Hell that I posted a little while back and the talent has only grown since then. Though it looks like with the last few videos that Michael is stepping away from music for a bit (and they are both amazing, mind you), Justin still posts new songs every few weeks.
This latest one I cannot stop singing:

(I really liked how he did multiple parts to this song mash-up.)

I Set The Rain On Fire

"I let it fall, my heart,
And as it fell you rose to claim it."
Adele - I Set The Rain On Fire

Hi there!
I've just about finished my finals for the end of my Sophomore year and am ecstatic to say that I will be posting regularly again now that things have calmed down so drastically. Updates, hmm, where to start? How about the fact that I got my braces off?

(Before . . . )

(And after! Haha, that's Dr. Edmonds, he was pretty cool.)

Next, there was Prom. Now that was a blast! Sadly enough, though, Tyler and I decided to just stay friends. I didn't get those butterflies and we both deserved more than that. It's exhausting, you know? Anyway, I'm taking it easy in the dating department for the summer. Here is my dress from Prom with Tyler:

(I liked this pose in the wind a lot.)

(Tyler was such a gentleman. ^^)

My Zombie Lover For Life Colton has recently graduated high school and can no longer be on the library board with me. :( We all threw him a little party and I got him a stuffed Mama & Baby Penguin. Haha, it's a running joke that I'm his "Mama Penguin", so when I saw this in the store window, I knew it was fate. Here is our family photo:

(I realized later that night that I had worn my penguin brooch. Double fate!)

Also, today is my best-friend-for-as-long-as-I-can-remember Caitlyn's 16th birthday. Happy Birthday, chickadee! I love you so much, it's pretty ridiculous. =D
Last night, we got a group together and rented the party room of this great pizza parlor Glory Day's. From there we went to go see Pirates of the Caribbean 4: On Stranger Tides. Aside from the freak thunderstorm and couple of nut jobs crying in public about the Rapture, it was an unbelievably fun night.
And might I add, Sam Claflin, whom played Philip, got a standing ovation during his shirtless scenes from all of the girls in our group last night.
Well done, sir. ^^

To Kingdom Come

"'Come, come,' I hear it calling me, yelling,
Like if ever there was someone who could make things heavy again,
Feel alive!"
Passion Pit - To Kingdom Come

Happy Easter, all! :)

This year's Easter was a blast. Nothing particularly special, just had some really great family time. I had lunch with my sister Erin, mom and dad at Nanny and Papa's and it was interesting to say the least.

(I still get an Easter Basket. Sue me. ^^)

My mom really knows me, I mean, a Cookies n' Cream Bunny, a box of Pocky, a portable/already full Jelly Belly container, Bottle Caps, Laffy Taffy (yum!), a giant flower sucker and a hella bunch of Nerds. Oh, and a very sweet (haha, pun) card, metallic nail polishes, remover, and special files, socks and some money from Nanny and Papa. Great wake-up call if you ask me!

Oh, and I went out on a date with Tyler last Friday after school. We went to go see The Adjustment Bureau, which was pretty good, and then caught some dinner at a nearby Chick Fil A. He was sweet and I had a bunch of fun exploring the mall after dinner. Definite potential here. Fingers crossed!

*Gasp* 2,000 page views? Aw, you shouldn't have.

Whistles: The Revenge!

Whistles are in! Oh, and I have a REALLY cute photo from my Ceramics class to post as soon as I get my last project out of the kiln next week. Here is what I've got so far:

(This first whistle I engraved on both sides for my friend Morgan. I call her "Captain" and the "BB" is for her favorite band, Breaking Benjamin.)

(This second one has one of my favorite song lyrics by a band called Placebo: "Instead of stressed, I lie here charmed.")

(And here is all of them, including my baby pig whistle, Randolph.)

Yeah, I'm pretty proud of myself. ^^

Ringlets and Gears

"Love hurts, whether it's right or wrong,
I can't stop 'cause I'm having too much fun."
Avril Lavigne - What The Hell

Hello, loves.
It's been a pretty crazy week at school. We had our spring comedy production of The Gamester, and I got to help out with the make-up crew. I learned that I am pretty badass when it comes curling ringlets under pressure. *cue David Bowie/Queen's song*

After we finished up each night, a bunch of us in the crew and cast would go out to dinner and one of the nights we wandered into Steak & Shake (God, love it), which is thankfully open 24/7 and always has a patient staff (we tip well!). My friend Kelsey and I got our hands on the kiddie menus and assembled some cardboard cars.

(Hot Rod Chicks ^^)

Oh, and I recently came across a potential new obsession: steampunk. I'm not so into the extremity of if as a lot of its followers are, but I love the edgy feel it gives to vintage. Check out this necklace:

Also, this site explained shows off a lot ingenious projects that steampunks have made. This, for example, is what someone did to their computer *mumbles* and boy am I jealous . . .

http://steampunkworkshop.com/lcd.shtml

Oh, and my friend Aaron recently got me hooked on these guys on youtube. Now, I'm not promoting them exactly, but you definitely would not regret listening to their renditions of songs I thought I hated from overplay, like the one above (also there is always funny background action):

Oh, and thanks to all who muscled through my venting last post. I chose Thing 1 (my friend Tyler, for those who did not guess) and we have a date this Friday. *cocks shotgun at anyone about to hum Friday* I'm pretty excited. ^_^

Chasing Pavements

"Should I give up?
Or should I just keep chasing pavements,
Even if it leads nowhere?
Would it be a waste, even if I knew my place?
Should I leave you there?"
Adele - Chasing Pavements

*Scream!* I am so frustrated! I am usually so decisive and level headed, so why should this time be any different?
(For the sake of personal privacy, the message will be there, but the details vague)
The Problem: I have two good Things. The first of the good Things I have been working on for nearly a year now, and am making progress on, but it is not nearly as far a long or as productive as I had hoped. Then, out of nowhere, comes a second Thing. Now, this new Thing began progressing on its own without my prompting and is much more like me, but is still a bit too new to be a safe choice.
Both of these Things care about me a lot and I care about them both, too (with minor fluctuations in preference). I figure that I should just step back and see what happens, go on normally and not let it mess with me. I am a firm believer in Karma and trust the universe to take a few moments of its time to sort out this petty issue. I'm darn sure that I have earned it with all of what I put up with.

But what do you guys think? Should I pick Thing 1 or Thing 2?

Another friend has a problem much like my own. Hers is simpler, but no easier, if that makes any sense. She recently broke up with her boyfriend for the second time in the past two school years. Aside from maybe 40% of their time being honeymoon phase, all they do is get sad and jealous and bicker about small things. They are broken up, she is losing weight from not eating and are still going to Prom together for some reason (where we all know they will probably get back together). They say that they are in love, but the relationship is not healthy. I am pretty good friends with the both of them and have heard both sides of the story, along with other details from people closer in the matter and can honestly say that I am unbiased. I just want them to be happy no matter if they get back together or not.

On a much lighter side, I am president of the local public library's Teen Advisory Board (not as nerdy as it sounds! =P) and we got to make a movie yesterday for a contest. The guidelines say that we have three minutes to show why we need libraries. I and my partner in crime Colton are total zombie nuts and somehow talked the others into making it a zombie apocalypse where the survivors use self-defense and zombie-survival books to get away. Needless to say, Colton and I jumped at the chance to be zombified.

(Here we are getting our zombie make-up done.)

Zombie Lovers For Life!

Oh, and this song was running through my head the entire time that we shot.

Whistle

"I've come undone,
But you make sense of who I am,
Like puzzle pieces in your eye."
Red - Pieces

Today was pretty cool! I got to make a clay whistle in Ceramics today and got it working right on my own. I'm very proud of myself. =] As soon as I fire and glaze it, I will post a photo of them all (I'm making three).

Ugh, I lost an earring today, though. I just bought them and today was my first time wearing them. I love French Hooks on my earrings, but they are getting mighty troublesome lately. Honestly, it's the little things like that in life that can peeve you off all day just enough to damper a perfectly good day. But everything else was cherry, so I will just have to put on my big girl pants and get over it.

Also, I found these shoes on my weheartit.com account http://weheartit.com/liesherecharmed

(Tell me that you do not love these to some extent, I dare you!)

Oh, and this post goes out to Georgina. You know why, hon. Stay beautiful! I better not hear you saying otherwise. I would rather not have to mess you up. ^_^

Fun.

"So I call your name, cross my fingers,
Uncross the others, hesitate,
I don't think straight with nothing to prove."
Fun. - All The Pretty Girls

Hey, a really quick update: I created a tumblr account not too long ago, but I am finally doing something with it! Check it out, it will serve as my Think Tank for future posts on here.

Big Jet Plane

"She said, 'Hello, Mister,
Pleased to meet ya,'
I want to hold her,
I want to kiss her."
Angus and Julia Stone - Big Jet Plane

Hello, my fellow spring chickens! Are you all as raring to go for cool rain, sunshine, walking barefoot in the grass and tank tops as I am? =]

But maybe first I should start out with a gush over my latest musical obsession, Angus and Julia Stone. Who knew that siblings could make such sweet tunes? Check out my favorite that I quoted above:

March has been busy for whatever reason and I have a few photos that I will post soon of some outfits I am pretty proud of. I've been inspired lately and am feeling confident with the sudden mood swings in weather (one day snow, the next day 80's . . . got to love Kansas).

Like a lot of people, I fanatically watch the NCAA Tournament and filled out a bracket. I am a die-hard KU Jayhawk fan and had them winning against Butler for the whole shebang, but as you know there were many upsets this season, an example being Duke's loss so early on. Ugh, my brackets were surprisingly perfect up until that and KU, then I just tossed it out. Lordy, it was flat out depressing when my Jays lost. I actually cried a bit. :*(

On a happier note, I got asked to prom by a very good friend of mine and I just picked up my dress a little over a week ago. It's strapless, a deep, apple red, and floor length. It's fitted at the top and just flows naturally. Here it is hanging on my closet door:

(Sorry for it being sideways, but you get the picture. Ah! Unintentional pun of the day! ^^)

This Month's Obsessions:
~Cat Eyes
~House (yes, still, and the episodes are bumming me out lately)
~A band named Fun.
~Red Velvet Blue Bunny Ice Cream (Ace of Cakes star Duff created this heaven)
~The seasoned french fries at Chili's
~Rewatching Pokemon

Well, enough with my gabbing. Get on with your bad selves!

Lace Fever

"Future primitive,
The ones you left behind,
Are still with you my dear."
Papercuts - Future Primitive

This is just too snazzy. Apple recently came out with a new version of an old favorite, the lovechild of an iHome and a 1950s jukebox, known as the iJuke. The next time I have $200, I am definitely getting one (hopefully soon)!

Like most of you, I watched the Oscars last weekend and was thoroughly impressed with what the red carpet had to show. I couldn't help but notice just how much lace was incorporated this year and picked my two favorite dresses of the night:

(Mila Kunis in a gorgeous, lilac grecian gown.)

(Scarlett Johansson in a bold, violet sheath-style.)

Also, today the latest Papercuts album 'Fading Parade' hits the shelves and you know that I intend to pick up a copy ASAP.

I swear that I am going to go up a dress size thanks to Sonic. Just about a month ago they came out with the Red Velvet Cheesecake Blast!
This is such a guilty pleasure because I actually require a nap after eating one. I regret nothing. ^_^
I totally recommend picking one up, regardless of the distance you may need to go.

Toothpaste Kisses

"Put the stars in our eyes,
And with heart-shaped bruises,
And late night kisses, divine."
The Maccabees - Toothpaste Kisses

Hello, funny valentines!
V-day with my friends was a blast. We went to our favorite coffee shop Lazio's after school and hung out for awhile (also played Cupid). Caramel Chillers always melt me into the leather armchairs. =]

Oh, and here a is photo I thought was perfect for the holiday (different context, but who care's, really?):

I found this in one of my albums thought it was sweet. It's my all-but-sister Yubani and I a few months ago hamming it up for the camera whilst out on the town. My smile looks funky, but I love this:

I'm part of the crew for my school's production of Hairspray and it's actually coming together nicely. Wearing all black for backstage may not be my style, but I do feel like a ninja!

Oh, and what I was talking about that last time about my hair is that I cannot decide whether or not to grow it back out or keep it above my shoulders in a bob? I will see if I can't find a decent photo of both and post them within the week.

Here's the video to the song from above. It made me laugh a lot. Sweet ending, though. =]:

Gold Lion

"We'll build a fire in your eyes,
We'll build a fire when the color is getting brighter,
Cold desire, makes a moon withour a tide."
The Yeah Yeah Yeahs - Gold Lion

Hi, guys! ^^
I just spent the majority of last week with a really bad cold and slight fever. Can we all take a moment of silence to revel in the sweet, sweet irony of me catching my computer's virus?

Oh, and my friend sent this yesterday and it made my day:

Also, here are a few things I found while online shopping and am thinking about picking up:

(But that last one might be a bit out there, haha.)

Unfortunately, I have decided to nix Wardrobe Wednesdays. If you need an explanation, let me tell you that the very first thing I am splurging on once I get a job is a new camera . . .

Well, I will still post new pictures on a regular basis, just not every Wednesday.

Also, should I grow my hair out wavy again, or stick to the current bob? More on that another day.

Oh, and keep sending me those questions on formspring!

Everything

"You're a carousel, you're a wishing well,
And you light me up, when you ring my bell.
You're a mystery, you're from outer space,
You're every minute of my everyday."
Michael Buble - Everything

Hi there! Let me start off with an apology for my technical difficulties (I could not even log on to post for a few days). Thank you, to whomever stuck with me through the computer problems. I had it taken care of and am ready to make up for lost time with (in order) the W.W. photo from last week along with this week's.

Bibbed Tank - Kohl's
Over-sized Cardigan - JCPenny's
Brooch - Antique Store
Skinny Jeans - JCPenny's

Plaid Button-Up Babydoll - Kohl's
Black Tank - Target
Compass Pendant - Charlotte Russe

Oh, due to my computer's not-so-metaphorical stroke, I could not make my friend's birthday post on time.
Well, better late than never. The song lyrics at the top go out to Dani! Happy Belated Birthday, hon! =D

I finished God Bless You, Mr. Rosewater the other day and I really enjoyed it. The dark, dry humor and sarcasm (as is Vonnegut's way) with such a surprisingly interesting story line really kept me entertained.
I need to see if I cannot go out and pick up a cheap copy for my collection.
I think that I have made it an official goal to own a copy of each of his books, but I only five last time I checked, so this could be difficult.

My next read: Dorian Gray.
My A.P. Lit. class is going to focus on the novel in the coming few weeks. I have already read it, but it's been a few years, so this is actually a great excuse to reread it.

This week's obsessions:
~Blue Valentine (New favorite movie! So fantastic! T_T)
~Watermelon Bubblegum
~Pawn Stars
~Arcade Fire (We'll see how long this lasts)

Andy Has The Right Idea

"So let's cause a scene, clap our hands,
And stomp our feet or something, yeah something,
I've just got to get myself over me."
The Format - First Single

Hey, long time no see? Well, it's been long for me, at least. My town got an encore preformance of our snow storms from last week, earning us a snow day on a very convenient day for me (Odd days suck!).

Oh, and my apologies on missing the W.W. again, my camera just does not like to cooperate with me when I upload. I will post the photo a bit later tonight once I get some assistance.

*Insert loud, resounding girly squeal; A flock of birds flies away miles away*

Panic! At The Disco's new album 'Vices And Virtues' is going to be released on February 1st (my half birthday!)! There is already a confirmed leak of their latest single included in it entitled Ballad of Mona Lisa, and I am already bouncing up and down in my seat. Really, sufficient words escape me. I just cannot wait!

Oh, and three dresses have caught my eye this week whilst fumbling around my favorite magazines:

(Michelle Williams at the premier for her latest movie Blue Valentine, top of my list of Must Sees.)

(Natalie Portman winning at last weekend's Golden Globe Awards. Yes, I know, another pink loophole . . .)

(Emily Browning at the premier for Legend of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga’Hoole not too long ago)

On a final note, anyone who knows me knows full well that I am an avid Vonnegut junkie. I recently got my hands on a copy of God Bless You, Mr. Rosewater. Needless to say I will thouroghly enjoy reading it this week.

Awkward Pose, Funny Prose

"Who's seen Jezebel?
She was gone before I ever got to say:
'Lay here, my love,
You're the only shape I'll pray to, Jezebel.'"
Iron & Wine - Jezebel

Here is that photo I promised. Sorry it's late! Not a great one, but the focus is my outfit.

I was pretty happy with it. =)

Oh, and you cannot see it, but I am wearing my favorite plaid sneakers.

Babydoll - Forever 21
Over-sized Cardigan - JCPenny's
Skinny Jeans - Target
Scarf - Wet Seal
Brooch - Antique Store

The other day I was in my Forensics class (pretty fun) and I kind of zoned out when we started talking about how to research things 'effectively'. I tuned right back in, though, when I heard her mention (500) Days of Summer! Apparently our school had legal access to a website for downloading movie scripts and it was one she used as an example.

Needless to say, I jotted down the wed address and read through it that night! There are quite a few changes from the original draft to the final product. But, in the end, it is still possibly my favorite movie.

God, but do I love her wardrobe.

I seriously need a cookie fix on the double. I have been baking them a lot lately and I cannot even snag one. The raw dough just isn't cutting it right now.
I may have to go out and buy a couple of boxes of Nilla Wafers to hold me through the lovely snow storms.
 Mmm, now I'm hungry! Ah!

Finally, never let yourself sneeze in the middle of straightening your own hair. I was lucky my casualties were minor, but it was almost so much worse.
I mean, my whole body goes into a sneeze usually, so my grip on the searing hot piece of plastic tends to slip and scare me half to death.
Nobody needs that in the morning when still waking yourself up. >_<

January Hymn

"Maybe I should just 'let it be,'
And maybe it will all come back to me,
Sing, oh, January, oh!"
The Decemberists - January Hymn

Due to a few technical trouble, I will post Wardrobe Wednesday's kick-off post tomorrow . . . on Thursday . . . I know. >_<
But in the mean time, I am pretty proud of this t-shirt.

Top - Hot Topic
Heart Pendant - Charlotte Russe

Short post, but this is just to inform you of the mishap which shall be fixed by morning.
Oh, and here is a track from my new Decemberists CD I bought early! ^^

I couldn't resist posting it in January, fantastic album. Expect me to gush for the next week or so.
Thanks for hanging in here with my, guys. I love you a bit more than usual today. ;]

Looking For A Lot

"Park that car,
Drop that phone,
Sleep on the floor,
Dream about me."
Broken Social Scene - Anthems For A Seventeen Year Old

Well, I called it! Gorgeous snow and two days off from school because of it. I'm thinking it's time for a snowball fight.

*Spoiler Alert!*

Today is a bit of a solemn day for me (though I do not believe that I am alone in it).
While it may sound a bit hokey, today is the day that the title character of my favorite book, Looking For Alaska by John Green, died in the story. I know it's all fiction, but she really touched my heart. I really don't think that I have cried that hard in a while when I first read the book a few years back.
I guess that that's just proof of what a great book it is.
I will probably end up doing a review/synopsis post in the near future, but for the time being, I will await the movie release date. Hope that they do it justice!

I have begun the hunt for the fabled "job" recently and am having no luck thus far.
Just a little bit longer and I will be 17! But, until then, the pickings for jobs are pretty slim.

Oh, and I realized the other day that my sister got one of my favorite movies from a friend for Christmas. I am so ecstatic to watch it a few dozen times before she moves out.

Come next week, my Grand Music Excursion begins. So many new albums are being released this month and I have had a special savings fund just for this. I kick it off with Tapes N' Tapes's album 'Outside' and Cake's 'Showroom Of Compassion', both out today. Should be great. =)

Finally, I must thank my older sister for getting me into burning incense. Who knew it could be so relaxing? White Gardenia is definitely my favorite right now and I will need to restock soon.
